Header & Document Control

• Document number/title follow project numbering; “Cable Schedule” clearly stated with unit/area/system.
• Revision index and purpose (IFR/IFA/IFC/IFD) correct; prepared/checked/approved names and dates completed.
• Project identifiers, location, confidentiality classification and document ownership correct per contract.
• References listed with numbers & revisions (P&IDs, SLDs, Interconnection Drawings, Hook-ups, Junction Box Schedules, I/O Lists, Lighting Layouts, F&G Layouts, Telecom Schematics, Cable Specs).

Scope & Structure

• Scope covers power, control, instrument, F&G, telecom, and fiber cables; boundaries & exclusions stated (e.g., vendor-internal wiring).
• Required columns present/consistent: Cable ID, From (Tag/Panel/Term), To (Tag/Panel/Term), System/Service, Type/Spec, Size (cores × CSA/AWG), Screen/Armour, Fire Rating, Voltage/Class, Length (calc & cut), Route/Trays, Spares, Terminations, Gland/Entry, Drum No./Batch, Remarks/Refs.
• Naming convention and unique Cable ID enforced; no duplicates; revision change log maintained.

Tagging & Cross-References

• From/To equipment tags match Instrument Index, Electrical Load List/SLDs, JB schedules, and Telecom Index; panel/JB numbers valid and in service area.
• Terminal numbers and polarity/signal naming consistent with interconnection/loop drawings (TX+/TX−, A/B, 24V+/0V).
• Signal/System cross-check: instrument cables ↔ P&IDs/hook-ups; power/motor cables ↔ SLDs/MCC schedules; F&G ↔ zoning; telecom ↔ network drawings.

Cable Type & Specification

• Cable spec code correct (e.g., XLPE/PVC/SWA, LSZH, PE sheaths); materials meet environmental/UV/chemical/H₂S/sour service requirements.
• Voltage/class appropriate (HV/MV/LV/ELV); screening/twisting for analog signals; pair/triad count matches I/O; FO cable type (SM/MM, core count) correct.
• Fire performance matches location (LSZH, flame retardant, fire-resistant, IEC/EN/NFPA ratings) and project fire zone rules.
• Armour selection (SWA/AWA) and mechanical protection fit installation (buried, tray, ladder, riser, offshore, hazardous areas).

Sizing, Voltage Drop & Load

• Conductor size selected for load and installation method; derating (ambient, grouping, soil thermal resistivity) applied per standard.
• Voltage drop/loop resistance checked, within project limits at max load/start-up; instrument loop resistance compatible with transmitter/AI budget.
• Short-circuit/earth fault withstand verified for protective device clearing times; screen/armour earthing philosophy documented.

Routing & Length

• Route IDs/tray numbers entered; separation rules respected (power vs control vs FO vs F&G; EMF separation; hazardous area segregation).
• Calculated length reflects 3D model/route plus allowances (drops, terminations, slack, spares); cut length/drum length recorded.
• Crossings and penetrations coordinated (MCT, sleeves, firestops) and rated per fire zoning; tray fill factors within limits.

Termination, Glands & Panels

• Termination details complete at both ends (panel/JB terminal numbers, polarity, pair/triad mapping, spare core treatment, screen bonding).
• Gland types and sizes correct (A1/A2, barrier, flameproof, Ex e, NPT/metric) per hazardous area/IP rating and cable construction.
• Entry quantities/threads match panel/JB drawings; earth/bonding provisions specified; drain/vent breathers if needed.

Special Cables (FO / F&G / Instrumentation)

• Fiber optic: core count, SM/MM type, connector type (LC/SC/ST), splice/muffle locations, OTDR limits, bend radius compliance noted.
• F&G: detector loops, vote logic per zone, fire-resistant routing for life-safety circuits; red/FR cables where specified.
• Instrumentation: pair/triad, individually/overall screened, low-capacitance for long runs, drain wire bonding location stated.

Testing, QA & Inspection

• Factory/field tests specified: continuity, insulation resistance (IR), hi-pot (where applicable), FO OTDR/attenuation, shield resistance.
• Inspection hold/witness points identified; test forms and acceptance criteria referenced; calibration of test instruments noted.
• Pre-commissioning checks planned (core identification, phasing/rotation for motors, IO loop checks) linked to schedule rows.

BOM, Logistics & Preservation

• Quantities roll-up verified by type/size; drum lengths optimized; spare allowance considered per discipline guideline.

• Open items and assumptions listed with owners/due dates; temporary workarounds flagged clearly.
• Attachments referenced with document numbers/revisions (specs, route drawings, interconnections, hook-ups, vendor manuals).
• Grammar/consistency/format pass complete; sample cable labels/legends included if required.
