Termination Diagrams — Final Self-Verification Checklist

Header & Document Control

• Document number/title per project standard; “Termination Diagram” clearly states panel/JB ID, unit/area, and sheet number/total.
• Revision and purpose (IFR/IFA/IFC/IFD) correct; prepared/checked/approved names/dates completed; change log updated.
• References listed with numbers & revs (P&IDs, Loop/Interconnection, Instrument Index, Cable Schedule, JB Schedule, Panel Layouts, Hook-ups, SIF/IPF Register, F&G zoning, Area Classification, Client Wiring Std.).

Scope & Drawing Structure

• Scope includes all terminations for field devices, packages, and system interfaces (DCS/SIS/F&G), including spares and house-keeping earths; exclusions clearly noted.
• Sheet index, continuation arrows, and cross-references present (to rack/slot/channel, to other sheets, to loop/ICN drawings); no orphan wires.
• Symbols/abbreviations per standard; conductor numbering/wire-ID scheme declared; “from/to” orientation and terminal top/bottom convention consistent.

Panel/JB Identification & Environment

• Panel/JB tag, service, location, area classification, and enclosure rating (IP/NEMA) shown; material/coating and ambient rating noted if required.
• Terminal rail/row identifiers, TB type/series (standard, disconnect, fuse, Ex i, test) and ratings stated; accessories (end plates, markers, end clamps) implied or listed.

Terminal Blocks & Numbering

• TB numbering is continuous and unique across sheets; spare/parking terminals identified and labeled; terminal markers match BOM.
• Jumpers/bridges/links clearly shown with part numbers; isolation/test/disconnect terminals shown with correct lever positions/notes.
• Fuse terminals: fuse rating/type and identifier shown; downstream loads referenced; spare fuses policy noted if applicable.

Wiring, Polarity & Shielding

• Core IDs and color codes correct; pair/triad mapping accurate; polarity ( + / −, A/B, TX+/TX− ) consistent with loop/ICN and device datasheets.
• Shield/drain bonding location indicated (field/JB/system); single-point vs both-ends philosophy followed; symbols/notes unambiguous.
• Special conductors handled: RTD 3-wire/4-wire links, TC polarity and compensating cable type, pulse pickups (open-collector/reed) with correct wetting/diodes.

Cable Entries, Glands & Sealing

• Entry quantities and thread types match panel/JB drawings; gland sizes/types correct (A1/A2, barrier, Ex d/e, NPT/metric); unused entries plugged with rated stopping plugs.
• Earth tags, serrated washers, and bonding straps shown where required; gland plates referenced; IP rating maintained after installation.

Intrinsic Safety & Hazardous Area Interfaces

• Ex i barriers/isolators shown with model/channel IDs; segregation of IS vs non-IS terminals maintained; blue color/labeling per standard where applicable.
• Entity parameters and cable parameters verified in SRS/loop calc (reference noted); earthing/PA bonding of IS circuits indicated correctly.

Power, Returns & Protection

• 24 Vdc (or other) supplies identified with source references (UPS/IPS panel, fuse/CB ID); redundant A/B feeds and diode ORing shown if used.
• Common returns correctly grouped and labeled; coil suppression (diode/RC) shown for DO/relay coils; wetting supply polarity and fuse rating correct.

Inter-Panel / System Interfaces

• Hardwired links to DCS/SIS/F&G racks identified with correct marshalling terminals and cross-references (node/rack/slot/channel).
• Vendor package interfaces (hardwired/serial/Ethernet) noted with isolation devices as applicable; comms circuits referenced to separate drawings.

Device-Specific Terminations

• Analog 4–20 mA/HART: polarity correct; shunt/characterization resistors where needed; HART mux/maintenance port referenced if used.
• RTD/TC: wire count and links correct (3-wire/4-wire); TC polarity maintained; CJC/extension cable type noted per hook-up.
• Discrete DI: NO/NC logic and wetting shown; debounce/delay per philosophy if indicated; E-stop circuits clearly latching with reset path if applicable.
• Final elements: SDV/ESDV solenoids wired with correct suppression; PST solenoid/position switches shown; MOVs include torque/limit switches, space heater, and aux contacts mapping.
• F&G devices: supervised loops show EOL resistor value/location; beacons/sounders wiring and PSU references; detector vote/zone references included.

Notes, Legends & Safety

• General notes include wire size/ferrule scheme, color code, tightening torques, test points, and workmanship standards; legend consistent with client standard.
• Safety notices (LOTO points, hazardous voltage, IS segregation warnings) included where relevant; maintenance isolation indicated.

Graphics & CAD Quality

• Title block filled; sheet numbers and revision history correct; text size/lineweights legible; alignment tidy; no overlaps or clipped text.
• Layer/colour standards followed; hyperlinks/callouts to related sheets valid; print area and page breaks set; PDFs created with selectable text.

Testing, QA & Commissioning

• Inspection/test points defined (continuity, insulation resistance, polarity/functional checks); acceptance criteria and forms referenced.
• Loop check/FAT/SAT procedures linked; SOE/first-out tests planned where relevant; temporary jumpers/inhibits documented with re-enable plan.

Data Integrity & Final Polish

• All terminals either connected or marked spare; no duplicate wire numbers; no dangling references; cross-sheet callouts resolve correctly in the set.
• Consistency check vs Instrument Index, Cable Schedule, Loop/ICN and I/O List completed; conflicts resolved and logged.
• Grammar/format pass complete; confidentiality/footer correct; transmittal list alignment verified.
